Wake

Wake

Hibernation ended

The world was waking up

Beneath a warm sun

Green unfurling abundance

Orange tipped butterflies dancing

Between falling cherry blossoms

Bird song seemed louder

Without the drone of traffic

Drowning it out

Squirrels brought their young

To feed in our garden

Nature breathed

Cleaner air

Stretching out to fill the space

Left empty by people

As if mankind

Were hibernating

Out of step with nature

Again
