The kite wife

The kite wife

He holds me with a thread of shining gold

Braided from love and time and knowing

His feet planted firmly on the ground

Solid, dependable, deeply rooted

His grip never falters as he allows the thread to reel out

Whenever the wind whisks me away

To dance in the breeze

Ecstatic and wild

Knowing that I will never be lost Because the thread is strong

His grip secure

And when the wind leaves me

And I crash to the ground

He picks me up with tender hands

Holds me

Until the wind returns

Until I can dance the skies again
