Presence

Presence

Clear water dances across mossy pebbles

Delighting in the autumn sunlight

The stream sings to himself

Sitting quietly I hear each falling leaf

Every beat of small birds’ wings

The buzz of countless tiny insects

The animals forget me

Squirrel sits beside me to drink the cool water

Woodpecker taps the tree trunk next to me

A slow rhythm of exploration

Everything hums with life and death

Everything hums with magic
